Happy New Year Everyone!!!
I wish you the best!
I did not have the most exciting New Year of my life, yet I think I have spent it around all the right people, and a little bit of myself. Me and myself had a talk.
I have to admit to missing my parents, my whole big family, and my friends from Belarus. Some people are just too hard to forget. Some friends are friends for life and it does not matter if you do not talk to them every time. Good memories of them make me smile and open a little door in my heart for that biterseweet feeling and happiness. I am blessed to have you guys. Some of you might not know about this blog, but you know without any spoken or written words that you are in my life forever. I love you all.
Selezionka.

New President.
So while in Belarus we still have Lukashenko (they just keep on voting for him every 4 years, 4 times in a row now) America chose Obama, which is better than the other choice they could make. I didnt vote (I guess I am just too young for that :P), but I am glad it turned out the way it did.

Virus Antivirus .....
Unbelievable... So Olga was randomly trying to write a blog post about her Angst (which might still happen later) and to do so she had to find a good definition of the word. By doing so she had to go to a website where she would find a good explanation of the word for you. And so I click on Webster website, but something redirects me to Antivirus 2009 and as I click Cancel I can see how this crap already downloads on my computer (technically to the college comp)! Oh boy did I get angry! I have heard lately about it and what damage it can cause to my computer... and so I had to write a post about it instead. Dont download any anti viruses and want you to download them. A good program does not want to be downloaded, you usually spend hours searching for it. That' it.
Have you ever noticed how sometimes it is great to just be alone with your mp3 player out and notice the wind trying to mess with your hair. I think the wind could hear the sound of the music and mess with my hair using the same beat as Anberlin did (and that was exactly what i was listening to) . I already forgot why i was saying that, but of well... Life is beautiful, keep smiling!

Aha! Life is sooo unpredictable, you know? So I always thought of life as a burst of adventures and so get this, it is not that adventurous at all. Reality came and stroke me with this thought today. But that's okay. Life is what you are making of it. And my life is pretty great lately, even though I dont jump out of an airplane or down a waterslide.
So it is kind of cold to smoke outside, but my cat seems to want to go out, she have discovered that pooping outside saves money (no need to buy KittyLitter), which makes everyone happier with her...

my favorite musicians
I love different kinds of music, but tonight (and it is kind of stormy outside and about to snow and it is still October) i want to tell you two names that you should know (or you might already know), they are Tori Amos and Rhonda Larson. The first one is a wonderful pianist and a singer, and the other one is an amazing flute player. Both of them are composers.
I happened to be at their concerts. Both of them made me laugh and cry in just one hour.
I happened to get to get acquainted with Rhonda Larson, and for the short amount of time i figured that she is quite an amazing person with a very kind heart.
So, totally check them out if you havent heard of them, and if you did then check them out again on youtube or buy thier cd.

Anti-Smokers Are Fascists!!!
I came to a conclusion that anti-smokers are fascists! They give us mean looks and say how disgusting it is to smoke and how superior they are to us because we are weak and that is why we smoke. We smoke because we choose to, just like they choose to go to McDonalds/drink pop and get fat, just like they choose to drink alcohol or play video games. Think of it and no, none of things mentioned above can be compared with smoking, because smoking is "like sooo much worse for you than those things". Well, not for me. But I am a happy smoker. I do not make fucked up comments to those who don't smoke. I don't say: "hey you, don't you know that your car polutes my air, get on a bicycle for God's sake, you, fat ass! It is also is a good exercise for you." I am to chose what to do! I am already standing 10 feet away from a business door, give me a break and if you don't want to smell smoke then - BACK OFF! And take your multiple brats with you! Tired of anti-smokers, those haters that want to control my life! TIRED OF THEM! They are no better than a Hitler, maybe worse, just 'coz they don't want to admit that they re natzies!

France bans immigrants wearing burqas in state language classes
Here is an article. I have to agree with saying 'in Rome do as the Romans do'. I do respect religions and what not ( i am immigrant myself, and I know what it feels like when you are trying to be yourself and be comfortable with what you like and used to, but there is always laws of another country and they do not have to care that I might not like it)

A Man Without a Country by Vonnegut.
It is often hard to have a clear and not preconceived opinion about something or someone you like. I happened to experience that yesterday, and I used a lot of reasons to justify the subject because I felt it was not nice of me to be rude or judgmental of it.
Kurt Vonnegut is one of y favorite authors! Moreover, he is my favorite American author! Lately I was given his A Man Without a Country, and it made me indescribably happy, for i really wanted to read it. I read it in one day (it is a very skinny book, but I am a very slow reader), and I was left not impressed with it. It could be that the expectations were too high and reviews too great, but imho the book was hmmmm just fine.
There is no way I can write a review on this book. I can hear myself saying: "he was old, plus he had many good points, plus it was put together in 2005 when everything was different.... etc", but then another voice says "problems are dull, since we hear them over and over again every day since 2001 (no reason to talk about Bush, no one wants to make a joke about him, it was dull even before "F 9/11", it is way too annoying today. Dont tell me about Iraq war as well, just notify me when it is over). Vonnegut's jokes are not funny. He tries to joke, and they dont work. The man without a country lost his sense of humor? Yes, and he admitted to that. Was it necessary to tell us "we all gonna die, you if you guys won't go 'pro-green' right now?" Well, no! I am not becoming environmentalist today. Sorry people, I guess you have to plant flowers and go through the garbage (in order to sort it and then recycle it) without me today, and I may be busy tomorrow as well."
This book has no plot. It has no main idea. Obviously because it was a collection of many many many essays and speeches he made before 2005. It is a diary of a man, who was telling us, his fans, about life. Was it an interesting book? Yes, for me it was. it wasn't something I expected it to be, but yes I found some great stuff in this book. Do I agree with everything he says? Absolutely not. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely YES! Why? Just so you can have a different opinion on the book and try to argue that, and maybe even prove me wrong. You must read if you have no idea who the heck Kurt Vonnegut is, and why is he so important and why it is necessary for everyone to know him (esp those who live here, in America)!
Keep on reading, learning and thinking. :^)

"Faust" by Goethe
Lately I have been reading Faust by Goethe. Wonderful book, even though it takes me quite a while to read it (as any other book I love. such books make me think each and every sentence I read over). I have to admit that this book reminded me many other books I went through, and one of them is The Master and Margarita by Bulgakov (which is one of the best books I have ever read). They have too much in common, yet both of them are wonderful in different ways. 'Bible Grace' was brought up in this book, and I am not sure I was completely happy with the choice Goethe made when he decided the fate of the Hero of the book Faust, but hey, this is his idea after all... So as I read the Faust I asked myself some questions about Bible and stuff, but maybe because I am not done reading The Bible, I cannot still agree with the term of 'Grace'. As for Faust, if I were to write it, my conclusion would be : "As you sow so shall you reap", but not "just say you are sorry!!!". Anyways, I can talk about it for hours and hours, so just go ahead read this book, you will love it!
Here is a couple of quotes from the book, check them out, they are my fav!
1) They're fighters, so they say, for freedom's rights;
More closely scanned, it's slave with slave that fights.
2)In these wild days what riots quicken!
Each strikes and he in turn is stricken,
And no command will men obey.
The citizen behind his wall,
The knight upon his rocky nest,
Have sworn to last us out, and all
Maintain their power with stubborn zest.
The mercenaries, restless growing,
Blusteringly demand their pay,
And if to them no more were owing,
They would be quick to run away.
Let one forbid what all men fain expect,
He's put his hand into a hornet's nest;
The empire which they should protect
Lies plundered, desolate, and waste.
This furious riot no one is restraining,
Already half the world's undone;
Outside the realm kings still are reigning,
But no one thinks it his concern - not one.

Early Morning
Life is wonderful. Judging by the weather and the taste of homegrown peaches it is just as great as it can get. A little vocation would be great though. My head always pictures Cinque Terre, and me strolling down or up the the street in Greek-looking sandals, swimming suit and a pareo, trying to figure out the way to the beach. Also I see mysef in the streets of at least Chicago, sitting on a beanch and looking at the people walking. This was and still is the most relaxing thing for me to do. Especially in the morning. Especially with a cup of coffee, notebook and a pen. Wonderful as it sounds I will not be able to do it soon, but the time will come, I am pretty sure. "Patience, my friend,"- that is what I tell myself.
I am done with my first cup of coffee this morning and I probably should start doing something already, because today appears to be lovely outside.
